Almost daily, we get a phone call from
a food bank asking for help. A family or elderly person has lost everything
through
an eviction
or foreclosure process. Or, a necessary appliance, such as a washer,
dryer or refrigerator, has failed and the family can’t afford
to get it repaired – and in most cases the appliances isn't
worth the cost of repair. Or in a few instances, a family experienced
a non-insured total-loss house fire.
Elephant Talk is always looking for large and small
household appliances, kitchen utensils, dishes, and pots & pans.
In most instances, we have a family waiting on the items. If not,
we store them until they
are requested by a food bank. In all instances, the items are returned
freely to those in need in our community or for use by a food bank.
If you have such items, consider a donation. We will pick them up
or you can drop them off.
We are working on a donation page that
captures all the right information – but
until then – please send an email to Donations and provide us the following information.
Your name, address and phone number.
A brief description of the items.
A brief description of the condition of the items.
Time, date and place you request the items be picked-up.
Please Note – Items that don’t consistently
work properly, or items that are obviously damaged and unusable,
or items that may
represent a health risk will not be picked-up. We are trying to provide
these families with decent donations that resolve their needs – and
respect their dignity.
