(NOTE – The
information provided in this section is a courtesy to help you
find food banks that can help – but it has been compiled
from a variety of documents and it is subject to change by the
individual
food banks. It is advised that you phone ahead to confirm hours
of
operation and your eligibility.)
The Denver Metro area has many food banks that can provide for
your nutritional needs. However, not all food banks provide the
same type of food – and some provide more-or-less food
than others. The variety and quantity may change from week-to-week,
depending upon what is available and the number of people requesting
food.
Also, some food banks provide food
only – while others can provide financial help with rent and
utilities. Additionally, the types of services and their hours of
operation tend to change frequently for some food banks.
Most food banks are not government entities so their requirements
and eligibility may vary. Generally, you will need to register
to receive food. That may require that you phone to schedule a
short interview to determine eligibility. It will require (at least)
the following documents on your first visit (ask if additional
documents are required):
| * Photo ID |
| * Proof of Residency (a recent utility bill
works well) |
| * Proof of Additional Occupants (Birth Certificates
or Social Security Cards for children and copy of government
ID for other adults living in the household) |
Also, verify how many times and how frequently you can visit each
food bank. It can vary depending on your where you live and the
guidelines of the food bank.
