Today, a more fundamental challenge is lurking in our midst. Far too many people – people that have been a contributing part of our community their entire life – now find themselves jobless, or homeless, or broke, or incapable of feeding their family. Their future looks bleak. They feel isolated and everywhere they turn – it’s a dead end. Social service organizations are already overwhelmed. Increasingly, these people feel hopelessness and utter fear. Left unresolved, it’s a risky proposition that is already manifesting in tragedy across the country. That’s a media event we don’t want for Colorado.
Elephant Talk is already meeting with community leaders, psychologists, social and community organizations, and local clergy to build community discussion groups that provide hope, direction, and access to resources – all much needed and demonstrative action that these individuals are not walking this path alone. We are there with them. There is hope through a unified community that cares for everyone.
Together, we have power, the depth of resources and the commitment
to see that we all get through this difficult time. Now, we need
to share that message of hope.
